During his inaugural address Thursday, Regent
University President Carlos Campo said he plans to continue empowering
students to be "the best human beings" they can be, while staying true
to their Christian heritage.
Campo was inaugurated Oct. 28 as the 8th president of Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va. He succeeds Regent's founder and chancellor Dr. M.G. Pat Robertson, who stepped down Aug. 1.
"We aspire to raise up a generation of leaders who will choose calling over career, and charity before recognition," Campo said Thursday.
"It's a big task," Dr. Robertson told Campo during the morning ceremony. "This is an international institution, rolling very rapidly."
As a first-generation Cuban American, Campo stressed the importance of instilling the value of liberty in future generations.
"The Christian university has a unique opportunity to preserve the virtues we cherish as a nation," he explained.
